For us, Catalyst isn’t about chasing fads or quick fixes. It’s about creating a space where people feel genuinely supported to build strength, resilience, and confidence for life. Every time someone walks through our doors, we want them to feel like they’re part of something bigger than just a gym.”
JJ Coutts
At Catalyst Training Co., we believe a gym should be more than just four walls and some equipment, it should be a spark that ignites transformation. That belief comes straight from the people behind Catalyst: JJ Coutts and Siobhan, a husband-and-wife team passionate about building something unique for the Randwick community.
Meet JJ Coutts, co-founder of Catalyst Training Co., coach, and community-builder. With years of experience running a thriving personal training business in Randwick, he has transformed his passion into a space where people feel supported, motivated, and inspired. JJ believes fitness is about more than just training, it’s about building resilience and confidence that last a lifetime.
Both JJ and Siobhan have lived and breathed fitness for years, not just as coaches, but as people who understand firsthand the power of training to change lives.
They first built their reputation by running a highly successful personal training business within the very same Randwick gym they now call home.
The strength of the PT business, and the trust they earned from the community, paved the way for them to acquire the gym itself and transform it into what is now Catalyst Training Co.
Catalyst isn’t trying to be the cheapest gym in the Eastern Suburbs or the flashiest. Instead, JJ and Siobhan are committed to making it the most transformative.
Their vision is built on three pillars:
Performance & Longevity – Our space is designed to help members not just train hard, but train smart, for long-term health, strength, and resilience.
Community Connection – Walking into Catalyst should feel like walking into a second home. Members are greeted by name, supported by coaches, and surrounded by like-minded people who push and inspire each other.
Balance & Wellbeing – Fitness isn’t about punishment or extremes. Catalyst’s approach blends structured training with recovery, mindset, and lifestyle guidance so members can thrive in and out of the gym.
JJ and Siobhan’s dream is simple, yet deeply intentional: to make Catalyst the benchmark for boutique training in the Eastern Suburbs—not by being the biggest or the loudest, but by consistently delivering an experience that genuinely improves people’s lives.
A place defined by quality coaching, meaningful relationships, and an environment where progress is measured in confidence, strength, and wellbeing—not just numbers. Catalyst is a space where members don’t just work out—they grow.
They build resilience, form lasting connections, and develop habits that support them through every stage of life.
Every session is designed to leave people feeling stronger, more capable, and more energised than when they walked in, carrying that momentum with them long after they leave the gym. Looking ahead, the focus remains on long-term impact—on continuing to evolve, refine, and raise the standard of what personalised training can be.
Because at the end of the day, Catalyst isn’t just about fitness—it’s about sparking positive change, creating lasting confidence, and helping people build a healthier, stronger future that truly lasts a lifetime.
Life changes—and so do bodies, goals, and priorities. Catalyst is designed to grow with its members through every season of life.
Training programs evolve, recovery becomes more important, and balance takes centre stage.
Rather than chasing quick fixes or trends, Catalyst focuses on building habits that last—strength that carries into daily life, energy that supports work and family, and confidence that extends far beyond the gym walls.
At its core, Catalyst is about supporting real people with real lives. It’s a space where consistency is encouraged, progress is measured over the long term, and members are empowered to feel capable, resilient, and in control of their health—today and for years to come.
